We’re continuing our decoding series on yoga and moving into one of, what I think, is a challenging move; Chaturanga Dandasana. This move is all about control! When done correctly you’ll see a host of benefits in your arm and shoulder area.

For this pose you’re in a halfway plank. So instead of having your arms straight, they bend at the elbow in a 90 degree angle backwards. The first time trying this, it may be a struggle because you’re holding your weight at this position. This pose is usually performed going into Upward Facing Dog.

So lets get into the benefits. As previously stated, this pose is great for strengthening the arms and shoulders, as well as, the legs and wrist. This pose also targets the core creating stability. Check out a Buti Yoga routine from Bizzie Gold. If you want to really push the limits while in this pose she’ll definitely do it!
