If you’ve been taking full advantage of these beyond cold months before spring finally arrives, you’re probably due for a good relaxing bout of something calm and soothing. Naturally, the first choice would be yoga, but not everyone is into bending their body into various positions to get their body to it’s ultimate point of calmness.

Enter meditation. I’ve recently started including about 15 minutes of meditation into my routine right before bed. You can do this at whatever point of the day that best suits you, but after experiencing the positive effects of meditation it will definitely be in my routine for literally ever.

So what do you need to have a good meditation session? You just need your body and a clear mind. There are many ways you can find your zen; you can do it in silence, with ambient sounds or instruction.

My number one app for meditating is Simply Being. I swear, I have never been as relaxed as I’ve been during this 15 minute session. You can choose how long you want to meditate for from 5-20 minutes in five minute increments. You can choose to have the voice, music or nature sounds (ocean, rain or stream). I do the voice with the ocean nature sound. Life changing, no joke.

The key is clearing your mind from any irrelevant thoughts and just being in that moment. You can also download ambient sound apps if you just want a subtle nature sound in the background. If you’ve got your workout and a little yoga, plus swirl in some meditation, your day and overall mood should be set.
