SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)

This episode was like the build up to the build up; we didn’t peak until the last 3 to 4 minutes and then we were just left on that cliff to hang for 2 weeks… thank you Shonda Rhimes.

We kicked off the episode with where we left off with Mama (Maya) and Daddy (Rowan/Eli) Pope talking about Olivia asking about her mother. Mama Pope demands that Rowan/Eli let her see Olivia but he refuses. We cut to Olivia and company trying to figure out who killed the security guard. The survailence footage is missing, thanks to Charlie, and Quinn is shaking in her boots literally. Charlie threatens that she must keep silent about the whole murder/B613 thing or she’d die.

Cyrus decides to pimp his husband James out to VP Sally’s husband Daniel Douglas, by getting him a “fluff piece” with her husband so that they could prove that he is into men. Mellie further pushes Daniel into making a move on James by telling him that he and Cyrus are in an open relationship. Meanwhile someone has broken into Josie’s home and stolen a laptop with important files on it. Josie’s daughter Candice is adamant that it’s Reston’s camp and wants to make it public. Olivia, Abbey and Harrison tell her that they’ve got it handled.

Candice goes on television anyway accusing Reston’s camp and Harrison goes off by putting her in her place. Someone opens the missing laptop and it’s tracked back to Reston’s camp. Mama Pope turns to cannibalism and eats through her wrist after being told by Rowan/Eli that she was being moved out of the country. She’s taken to the hospital and still insists that he let her see her daughter.

OPA is having difficulty determining who the security guard killer is. Huck claims that there’s a reflection on the window of the killer but he can’t get a clean frame. Olivia has a semi meltdown at the office while trying to deal with who the killer is and Josie’s situation; while in the midst of all that Fitz calls. Olivia goes off on him demanding that he not call her again, then she destroys the phone. (I was so excited about this, I mean, it’s about time.)

Fitz sends for Olivia using a picture of her and her father to coerce her onto the plane. She’s taken to a house in Vermont and she and Fitz go at it, back and forth, with him wanting to know why she didn’t tell him who her father was. He then just stops and rambles about the house. He then tells Olivia how he had the house built for them so they could raise a family together and that was it. Olivia dropped all defenses and they slept together. While this was happening, Mellie was looking for Fitz but his secretary couldn’t reach him. Something clicks and she has the secretary call Olivia, but of course she doesn’t answer. She realizes they’re together and it’s hard to say, but to me it looks like she’s crushed and disappointed.

OPA finds out that the break in at Josie’s house was fake and that Candice (her daughter who Harrison just happened to sleep with) had the laptop planted at the Raston’s headquarters. Olivia suggests that Josie publicly fire Candice to save her campaign, but Josie goes on live television and takes the blame for the burglary then steps down from running.

James and Daniel are alone at the Langston residence and while trying to interview him Daniel gets a little frisky and kisses James. James freaks out and Daniel reveals that he thought he was in an open relationship since that was what Mellie told him. All of a sudden everything clicks and he returns home at almost midnight to a slightly frazzled Cyrus. He claims he needs to take a shower and while in the bathroom Cyrus receives pictures of James and Daniel pretty much getting it on and he actually cries.

While being sedated for transportation Mama Pope stabs the doctor with the needle and escapes. She quickly finds Olivia and reveals herself to Olivia who looks scared/shocked/close to fainting when she realizes it’s her mother. Oh, but it’s not over. We end with Quinn finding a very pixelated photo of herself at the scene of the crime on the floor in her house. She immediately calls out Huck’s name and he flips on the lights. He’s sitting with his “tools” and tells Quinn that they need to talk and he needs to know who she’s working for. Quinn girl, ish just got real!

Some takeaways…

– Charlie has obviously developed feelings for Quinn, as has she for him. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. From the previews Quinn is about to get the Huck treatment and she may not make it out of it alive.

– Still waiting for more of a storyline for Harrison. We did see that he had some sort of a sexual thing with Candice, but I need more. It was great seeing him take control of the Josie situation and get Candice together. Just give us a little more Harrison please and thank you.

– Mellie is obviously over this whole Fitz and Liv thing. She knows they’re back to sleeping together and even suggests hiring OPA for their campaign since she’s free again. I feel for Mellie very slightly, but it’s just as much her fault and it is their’s at this point. It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Fitz and Olivia and all of their lover’s quaral drama. I know that it drives a major part of the show, but I say it’s partly Mellie’s fault now as well because she doesn’t care anymore and she’s willing to stick around all for the name of power and status. After last week’s episode I get her a little more, but sometimes you just have to throw in the towel and say enough is enough.

– We’re approaching the mid-season finale and ish is about to get even messier. Not sure what Mama Pope did to be locked in maximum security, but I think she’s either a terrorist or apart of B513 in some way. Either way, B613 is about to hunt her down and Olivia is going to try to save her. It’s just team too much and how it all ends, I think we’re all going to be in for a big shock for sure because I can so seeing someone possibly dying… maybe?
