Everyone should have something or be doing something with their life that will motivate or drive them.  Going through life without short and long term goals does not aid in your development since you have nothing to look forward to.  Think about your talents or the hobbies you like and come up with ways to make that into a part-time, eventually full-time, career.

Creating opportunities for yourself will give you a purpose to set and accomplish goals.  You may not be in the position to quit your full-time job and fully pursue developing your business, but that income from that job will help supplement your vision and business and help get you to the point where you can financially, solely depend on your business’ income.  The problem many people face is that they want everything to happen quick or they focus too much on what the other person has or where that person is in life.  A great translation of Romans 12:6-8 comes from The Message Bible:

‘let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t. If you preach, just preach God’s Message, nothing else; if you help, just help, don’t take over; if you teach, stick to your teaching; if you give encouraging guidance, be careful that you don’t get bossy; if you’re put in charge, don’t manipulate; if you’re called to give aid to people in distress, keep your eyes open and be quick to respond; if you work with the disadvantaged, don’t let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them. Keep a smile on your face.’

Whatever you want to do, if you set out to do it, it can be accomplished.  Focus on setting up a plan and developing your mission and goals for whatever it is you want to do.  Focus on where you are and how you will get to your end goal.  God is no respecter of person Romans 2:11; if someone is further ahead than you are and that’s where you want to be, then He’s just showing you the many levels He can take you to.  Knowing your purpose, setting goals and accomplishing them all help develop your inner thought process and improve your inner self.
