IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN AND I’VE GOT A FEW THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THESE SUPERHERO SHOWS.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 8 Outbreak

We’re finally winding down our mid-season and winter finale discussions! It seemed fitting to leave all of our beloved superheros, plus Riverdale, for the final installment. They all also happened to wrap up last so there’s that.

Of course, I’m going to direct you to my 2018 Fall TV Preview episode, because it’s still totes essential. Since we’ve got a lot to uncover we’re just going to get straight into it.

SUPERGIRL, PLEASE REVEAL YOUR IDENTITY

Boy has this been an interesting season of Supergirl. With Agent Liberty aiding in the anti-alien movement we’ve had to see Kara and team try to stop him in various ways. I was glad when his identity was finally revealed but I do believe that helped in continuing the hateful methods. Now the president believes all aliens should have their identities revealed.

Of course Kara isn’t here for this which leads to her leaving the DEO. So now our entire team is fractured and all of the place. John is fighting on his own, James is out here embracing being Gaurdian and Kara is just not happy. I for sure can’t wait to see how we turn things around starting January 14.

ARROW THROUGH MY SOUL

You guys know Arrow is in my top, top. When Oliver shocked us all last season and turned himself in to the FBI to save the others I was prepared to go this whole prison thing this season. Fast forward and I felt like we were in jail forever. I’ve discussed my thoughts on surrounding a plot around prison and it’s really not my favorite story driver – Riverdale I’m coming for you next.

All that being said, things were a little different. Diaz was still running around causing issues but this lead us to meeting the Longbow Hunters. Still trying to see how I feel about them as our antagonist. There is a new Green Arrow because, you know, the show is called Arrow and our Green Arrow was behind bars.

Come to find out our masked imposter is Oliver’s half sister which no one knew about. That will be fun to see once we return. I’ve been loving our Laurel and Felicity team ups. While our team hasn’t really been a team this first half of the season it was great seeing them come together post Oliver’s release from jail.

I did want to touch on Roy since that was one of the things I was most excited about seeing this season. We get Roy in flash-forwards along with an adult William. While this is slightly interesting I really wanted to see him in present time. I’m going to hold my opinion on the flash-forwards because I want to give them a little bit more time. As of now, they are a little frustrating. Either way, we’ll see how things pan out for Team Arrow and co when we return January 20.

A FLASHING FAMILY AFFAIR

Who knew of all of our Arrowverse shows, that I would have the most fun watching The Flash this season? The Flash has been on a bumpy uphill battle after dealing with dark times. Dare I say, I think they’ve got their mojo back.

I really like the team we have in place, minus this season’s version of Wells because I just don’t know that I 100 percent trust him. Nora has been a delightful and frustrating addition to the team. Delightful because I love seeing Barry and Iris be parents but frustrating because she sure did come with a lot of baggage.

Cicada is the type of antagonist I like to see in a superhero show because where we leave off, as the viewer, you’re questioning exactly how Team Flash is going to defeat him. Add that to what seems like a list of secrets that are being held by Nora and Sherloque and the is is sure to hit the fan when we return January 21.

THE LIGHTNING THAT SPLIT THE ROD

The Pierce family has definitely been tested this season from all sides. I did mention that I wanted to see Jenn embrace her powers and it looks like she’ll be suiting up soon so I’m def excited about that. Tobias is still running around causing havoc and has Khalil running for his life.

Lynn is not handling pretty much anything well since she’s turn to drinking to cope. After a slight scare I’m glad that Gambi is still in the picture providing insight to the team that they don’t always see. Hopefully we’ll see a full family team up when the show returns January 21.

LEGEND HAS IT THINGS GET MAGICAL

Despite some hesitation about the direction the show planned to go, I have to say Legends of Tomorrow is still a super fun show. There were a couple of dark moments but not enough to deter me from watching. I have to say that my absolute favorites episodes this season so far have been episodes 406 (Tender Is the Nate) and 408 (Legends of To-Meow-Meow). We’ll see how the Legends plan to help Constantine go up against a powerful enemy when we return in January.

AN UNWANTED GIFT

The Mutant Underground is split in two thanks to new baddie Reeva Payge. She’s got the Inner Circle running around trying to build a safe place for all mutants. Her efforts have led to a trail of death thanks to her freeing Rebecca who slaughtered a group of people by turning them inside out.

The two groups have yet to face off against each other with all parties involved. I’m pretty sure this is what we’re working up to, but boy do they have a few messes to clean up. The Gifted returns very quickly on January 1.

THE LOST KIDS OF RIVERDALE

There’s been a lot going on in Riverdale and these kids have been through the ringer. We kicked off the season with Archie giving in to Hiram and pleading guilty. We had to watch Veronica risk it all to try to get him out. Which she eventually does which leads to Archie going on the run. Thanks to some good Veronica sleuthing sh helps clear Archie of all charges but he decides to go on the run anyway.

Jughead and Betty are on a mission to get to the bottom of G&G which has taken over Riverdale. Jughead decides to try to solve it by playing the game while Betty goes after the parents. We essentially learn that G&G is heavily embedded in Riverdale and Hiram has big plans that involve quarantining the town.

All in all, I have to say I’m loving the take no prisoners attitude the kids have been having this season. I’m also looking forward to seeing a possible Veronica and Reggie relationship because there’s a whole lot of chemistry there. We’ll see how this quarantine situation plays out when we return January 16.
