SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
So ish didn’t get real until the last five minutes… I mean that’s nothing new, but it sets us up for two really great remaining episodes of the season– hopefully. Read the recap below!
Olivia sends Abby to the White House to act as her proxy but she’s not well received and with tension between everyone they all leave the room. Meanwhile, Olivia meets with her father and he tells her exactly how B613 is funded. She tells everyone at OPA that they have to hack the algorithm to find B613’s account. Once Huck finds out she got the information from her father he’s against it, but Olivia tells him that they all have to do things they don’t want to do.
Jeanine Locke has resurfaced with a tell-all book exposing the president, so Olivia returns to the White House. She thinks that they should ignore it since it’s old news but Cyrus is against this. Fitz asks to talk to her and during their conversation she tells him how negatively their relationship is effecting her, how she’ll never live in the house in Vermont and how he’ll always lie. Fitz tries to turn it around on her but Olivia ends the conversation telling him that he needs to make up with Mellie and Andrew.
Jake gives Quinn and Charlie a new target, Maya (Mama) Pope while Harrison meets with an old acquaintance (Claire) to try to find out where Mama Pope is but she won’t cooperate. Jake shows up at Olivia’s house drunk wanting to come in, but she won’t let him. She tells him to go home but he tells her he doesn’t have a home. She hangs up and he gets upset then tells her he asked her to save him and she said no. He then gets on the elevator and leaves.
Huck has found the algorithm leading to B613’s account but it’s empty and he thinks Rowan screwed them. Olivia goes to him and he tells her he has no idea where the money went and that Jake obviously moved it. Now there’s no telling where the money is and to find it and change anything she’d have to do it within B613’s office meaning the only one who can change anything is Jake.
No one in the White House is listening to Liv; Cyrus leaked the information about Sally’s daughter’s abortion and Fitz is interviewing people for the VP slot behind her back. Olivia cuts his meeting short and asks him what he wants. After going back and forth, telling her that he doesn’t love Mellie, he finally tells her that he wants Andrew to stop sleeping with his wife and she tells him she’ll handle it.
She meets with Andrew and tells him he has one choice, Mellie or being vice president. If he chooses Mellie then she will destroy him. He tells her that he loves Mellie and Olivia tells him he has 24 hours to tell her his decision.
Olivia thinks they need to work together with Leo to bring Reston down since he’s moving up in the polls. Abby and Leo go to the prison where his wife is being held and Leo shows her a file which proves that her husband killed her lover.
Huck tells Olivia that he can get into B613’s mainframe but she’ll have to hold a device near Jake’s phone for 30 seconds so that he can use that to get on the network. Olivia doesn’t want to do it but Huck uses her own words against her telling her that sometimes they have to do things they don’t want to do.
She shows up at Jake’s house and he asks her what she wants. They start making out which leads to a very long scene of them have sex and while he’s sleep she holds the device by his phone and leaves.
While tracking Mama Pope, Quinn and Charlie see Clare enter the room with Adnan and they find out that she’s getting them passports.We then find out that Claire is actually working with OPA and she calls Harrison telling him she got the information he needed but she wants out.
Olivia is having dinner with her father when Mama Pope pops up and sits down taking a drink of her wine. She tells Olivia that she needs to get out of her line of work because it’s getting to dangerous for her. They’re interrupted by Olivia’s phone ringing and Mama Pope tells her to answer it. It’s Harrison and he tells her that he was too late, Claire is dead. She tells him to return to the office. She hangs up and tells her mother she’s a disgusting person and she responds telling her she should’ve stayed out of her affairs then leaves after sharing brief not so nice words with Rowan.
Reston shows up at the prison and his wife shows him the files saying she wants a divorce. He viciously threatens her not knowing it’s being recorded. Abby posts the video online anonymously and Reston receives harsh backlash causing him to drop out of the race.
After a televised speech, Mellie tries to go to Andrew and continue their relationship but he turns her down. She realizes that Fitz is behind it and storms into his office slapping him in front of his staff and telling him that he continues to take everything from her.
Huck finally gets into B613’s system and has access to all files. At the same time Quinn and Charlie (on location) and Jake are watching on surveillance Mama Pope, Adnan and Dimitri as they open a box containing a lethal bomb. Quinn wants to go in and stop them but Jake wants them to wait because he wants to see what she plans to do with it.
Back at OPA, Huck tells them that he can shut everything down and asks Olivia if he should do it. She gives him the go causing everything at B613 to go off; their surveillance, the lights, the phones– everything. Quinn freaks out and goes in to try to stop Mama Pope but they’re gone. Everyone at OPA is celebrating their victory when Jake bursts in choking Olivia up and pointing his gun at Huck. He screams asking what did she do then tells her that because of what she did, she just killed the president.
Some takeaways…
– We have two episodes left this season and next week Mama Pope is blowing something up. I don’t know if she’ll be successful, but after these past few episodes with her being a few steps ahead of everyone I’m kind of scared to see what happens.
– Y’all know how I feel about Olitz but I’m glad that the last few episodes haven’t really focused on their relationship. I was happy to see Olivia with Jake for a brief moment even if it was for an ulterior motive. Pretty sure after this episode that it will be awhile before we see them together that way again.
– I don’t know where we’re going heading into these final episodes. I do think someone is going to die, or be close to it.
