**Insert dramatic scream here** I am so over winter. Don’t get me wrong, winter has always been one of those in between seasons for me… I didn’t hate it but I didn’t like it too too much. I’ve never been a fan of the cold, but I could tolerate it. Enter this winter (2013-14) and I am officially over winter for like the rest of my life.

Not only has it been cold, like polar vortex cold, but it has snowed every week since November… every week! Now I don’t want this to turn into a rant, but this is kind of taking a toll on my workouts. I still workout, but not to the extent that I’d like to workout. I’m even considering relocating somewhere, anywhere, where I have the option to take a long walk or a quick job and not have to worry about my eyelashes freezing together. Those individuals who I pass braving the weather to get in their runs, kudos to you but it couldn’t be me.

I’m literally going stir crazy with my indoor workouts. I want to breath the fresh, not so crisp air, and partake in outdoor activities. I’m ready to kick one of my fitness goals for the year, bike riding, into high gear.

So the countdown is officially beginning; Spring I’m coming for you. In the meantime, since I still have to work indoors I’m doing the Nike + training program using the app on my phone. The program consist of four weeks of four intermediate workouts including a little yoga. With the app you can either just do various workouts or choose plans that target you getting lean, toned or stronger. You choose your level from beginner, to intermediate to advanced. The amount of exercises you do per week correlates with your level. So 3, 4 or 6 respectively.

You can choose to include running, which will connect to the Nike+ Running app, which I didn’t do at this moment because I don’t plan to run in this snow. The instructor talks you through each exercise and you can choose to have your music playing in the background. It’s a little different from in person or video workouts, but I like it all the same. By the time I finish this first program it will be March and hopefully snow-less, so I’ll update then with my results.
