SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)

So this week we took a little trip to Russia and Oliver’s past somewhat collided with the present. We start off with Roy signaling Oliver about a possible exchange and he and Diggle go to take care of business. Once Diggle finishes guiding Oliver through the attacks he’s stunned and taken to an unidentified location. He’s been taken by federal agency Argus where he learns Lyla, the secret agent who’d been helping him track Deadshot, went missing in Russia.

He plans to go rescue her alone, but Oliver isn’t having any of that. So the trio pack up to go save Lyla who they find out is actually Diggle’s ex wife. Before they can even board the plane Isabel, Oliver’s business partner, shows up and pretty much invites herself on the trip since she’s under the impression that the trip is business related. In Russia they meet with Knyazev, someone who Oliver saved when he was on the ship during his island days. Knyazev tells Oliver and Diggle that this could be a potentially deadly mission and if not done right there would be no coming out of it.

They decide to go through with it and come up with a plan for Diggle to become a prisoner of the facility that Lyla is being held at. While in the prison Diggle gets into a fight and he’s thrown into the “freezer room” where he comes face to face with Deadshot. Meanwhile, Oliver and Isabel get a little too close after having drinks and end up in bed together. Felicity comes to get Oliver to go finish they’re mission when Isabel walks out of the room. Can we talk about how awkward this scene was. Felicity looked beyond crushed.

Oliver, Felicity and Knyazev head to the prison to finish out the mission. Inside, Diggle has to do the unthinkable and team up with Deadshot since he knows exactly where Lyla is. They grab her and Knyazev set the bomb off from Diggle’s jacket that was confiscated. They begin to escape and are swarmed by guards. Oliver shows up and they take down the guards, hop in the car and speed off. Diggle has Knyazev stop the car and he orders Deadshot out of the car. It clearly looks like Diggle is going to shoot him in the head, but for some reason he couldn’t do it. Deadshot asks him what he thinks happened to his brother and Diggle says that he was guarding someone who was Deadshot’s target when he missed.

Deadshot tells him that he never misses and that his brother was the actual target. He says the people who hire him use anonymous names but he gives him the alias they used H.I.V.E. The group returns to the states and Diggle and Lyla reunite in a more passionate way. When she goes to make coffee Diggle hops on his phone to start researching H.I.V.E.

Some takeaways…

– I have to say how much I LOVE the Oliver, Diggle and Felicity trio. I love their chemistry and how they always have each other’s backs no matter what. Sidenote, if Argus knew Oliver was Hood why can’t anyone else put two and two together…?

– Didn’t really talk about Thea and Roy, but her mother’s lawyer tried to get Thea to leave him because his felony record could negatively effect her mother’s case. Moira squashes that and says it’s perfectly fine for them to date.

– From flashback we learn that Shadow and Slade are still alive, for how long, we don’t know since Sara did Oliver extra dirty in every flashback scene.

– I was glad to get a little more background on Diggle, but it seems his focus has switched from Deadshot to H.I.V.E. so it’ll be interesting to see how that develops.

– I’m not here for Isabel She is one character I could’ve done without, just being honest.

– Love how pro-Hood Officer Lance is! That mini connection he shared with Roy at the police station was priceless!
