This past Sunday (October 20) Curves. Couture. Chicago., presented by Chevrolet and Project ThYck™, took place at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel and I truly had a great time. From the fashion, to the people and the atmosphere this was definitely the place to be.fashion fall 2013 chicago plus size full figured curvy trends thyck troupe

Being the official blogger, I wanted to share the event as it happened so if you weren’t there you could get an idea of what was going on. Starting from the beginning. The doors opened at 2p at the same time the VIP and media reception started. I was running between the reception and the ballroom where the actual show would take place. In the VIP room there were light bites and lots of conversation.

Some of the male models were working the room, as well as the show’s host Val Warner (Windy City Live). I was actually able to snap a couple of pics with her and she was very nice and sociable with everyone in the room.

After a few minutes there I went downstairs where it was starting to fill up and took the opportunity to snap some pics of some of the many stylish attendees. The ballroom was set up gorgeously. There was the main stage where the band, Soul People, played; an illuminated runway with limited VIP seating, seats surrounding the runway and the vendors were lined up along the wall.

The show opened up with a dance performance from the Talent Forum who actually performed a different routine at the beginning of each set. The first set featured looks from Bonjour Madame and Boutique Unique with some gorgeous outerwear pieces. My favorites were a white jacket and hat combo and a pink trench.

The next set was all about the accessories! The ladies worked the runway in Soundchick Accessories and Jack Cave Designs handbags. The crowd was definitely feeling this segment. I loved the oversize bags from Jack Cave Designs. This was followed by Blair Chic Boutique who’s no stranger to the site. I really loved it, very very fall and trendy. I saw some black and white, animal pieces and great prints. My favorite piece was definitely this graphic print jumper.

The men walked the runway next in The Steve Harvey Collection. Really crisp suits and those coats were amazing! I think the outerwear was my favorite part of the selection, but of course there’s nothing like a man in a great fitting suit.

Chocolate Sushi Couture was next and I loved this collection as well. It was very fall with some cute black and white pieces and leather trim. I had a few favorite pieces; there was this leather maxi skirt and a beautiful textured peplum top. Finally Bonjour Madame returned with gorgeous evening wear. There was this metallic silver jacket that was so gorgeous it literally sparkled on the runway.

Toward the middle of the show founder Tressa Thomas sang and brought everyone to their feet with her rendition of My Funny Valentine. Val Warner was a wonderful host and I loved the questions she asked the designers and boutique owners at the end of their sets. I also loved how dance and music were intertwined throughout the entire show with the Talent Forum dancing between sets and some ThYck Troupe members singing as the ladies and gents walked the runway.

This was a really great, upscale event. It was great seeing everyone dress up, come together and enjoy a really great show. I know I personally had never been to a show like this; from the moment you walked in until you left there was just an atmosphere of class from the organization, the venue and even the attendees. I saw a lot of great outfits even on attendees that I loved. If you ever go to a show that has on the runway sitting, snag those tickets.

I loved watching the show from that point of view and I think I got some really great snaps from my seat. The show ended with a final walk from everyone and everyone looked great!

I want to thank Tressa and the ThYck Troupe Organization, NFP for the opportunity to be the official blogger for this event. It really was a great job and I hope everyone enjoyed my tweets and snaps. I’m excited to see what more comes from this organization and can’t wait for next year!
