SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)

We open the episode finding out that Olivia is keeping Jake at her apartment and Huck doesn’t want to talk to her… at the moment. We do find out he’s tracking Olivia’s father, so nothing good is coming from that revelation.

television, scandal, kerry washington, recap

We meet a mom who’s hired Oliva’s firm to represent her, but once they find out the check she wrote them depleted her bank accounts Olivia follows her to the capitol building to find her in the Congressman’s office with a bomb strapped to herself, threatening to blow herself and everyone in the room up. She wants to know why her son was killed by the FBI and wants the records declassified.

Mellie and Fitz are going tit for tat pretty much telling each other how they really feel about the other while Cyrus tries to clean up their public image. A man gets loose in the White House (how that happens I don’t know) and tries to get to the president to talk to him about Operation Remington and everyone is forced to evacuate. Once Cyrus finds out what the man (Peter Foster) was after, he has him released and calls Olivia’s daddy because apparently this is a problem. Mind you, Olivia’s daddy was two seconds from getting a bullet in the head from Huck who’d been trailing him all morning on foot and by car.

Olivia negotiates for six of the hostages to be released. Fitz orders a sniper team to try to take her out, but Olivia finds out from Harrison who’s on the ground their plans to try to kill the mom. The lady goes crazy and is about to push the detonator when Olivia pushes her out of the way of the line of fire, thus putting herself in danger. Fitz sees her on the screen and almost freaks out… almost.

Fitz orders everyone stand down but he won’t talk to Olivia. Olivia has Jake call him which leads to a little shade throwing on Fitz ends toward Jake, but Olivia still doesn’t get what she wants. Harrison finds out that the mom’s son was a terrorist and recruited people as well from an FBI agent who they find out was a fake.

We find out Peter Foster is somehow connected to Operation Remington and Olivia’s father pays him a visit giving him money. He also confronts Huck who he knows has been following him all day.

David gets involved and he shows up to Cyrus’ office with all of his receipts. Cyrus wouldn’t give him not an ounce of information until David pretty much told him that he could become a long term problem for their future presidential campaign. We find out that her son was actually a CIA agent acting as a terrorist and his recruits were other agents. Basically he was wrongfully killed, but his mother or anyone for that matter couldn’t be told this information because it would endanger the other fifty something agents still undercover. Olivia is forced to lie to her and tell her that her son was a terrorist. She breaks down and agrees to let Olivia help her. As they’re surrendering to the SWAT team she pushes Olivia out of the door, locks it then blows herself up.

Quinn, Huck 2.0 or Baby Huck, as Abbey affectionately calls her, tracks Hucks whereabouts and let’s Olivia know that he’s been tracking her father all day. She returns to the office to find Huck there and she demands to know if he killed her father. He reveals that he wanted to but her father gave him another kill assignment (Peter Foster). After all of this time her father still controls him. With this revelation Olivia returns home and demands Jake tell her how he’s still alive and why her father released him.

He says he doesn’t know and he’s not working with her father. During all of this both of their phones are ringing but they won’t answer them. Olivia tells Jake that if he’s still alive her father thinks he’s still useful to him and that he not only controls him but her as well.

Some takeaways…

– Loved Mellie’s scene with Fitz when she was drunk and pretty much tells him that as long as Olivia is alive she pretty much controls him.

– I think this is only the beginning of Quinn or Huck 2.0 and I think she’s going to face some major challenges this season in relation to killing people.

– Still waiting for more character development on Harrison. We know the rest of the team’s history very well and I hope to see his play out this season.
