Long after you leave New York City, while you wear your ‘I Heart N.Y’ T-shirt, you’ll be thinking about these mouth-watering dining spots that didn’t empty your wallet, but made you wait in line. These Zagat favorites have become so popular and a part of American culture, that every tourist (and New Yorker) must try them at least once.

Magonlia Bakery

With locations in Los Angeles, Dubai and recently Chicago, it’s nice to check out the original shop that started the cupcake trend across the nation, and where both Carrie Bradshaw and Sarah Jessica Parker have been known to frequent. $3.50 per cupcake, the bakery always has on hand the classic flavors: Vanilla and Chocolate, and the Cupcake of the Month. Simple but done to perfection, when you first try one, you may think, “Oh that’s just a cupcake.”  But a few hours later, when you drift off on the subway, you suddenly have an unexplainable craving for the butter cream icing. Don’t worry, you can get off at Grand Central Terminal to grab another one.
