How you value yourself, the level you place yourself, is a direct reflection of how much you feel you’re worth. We’ve all heard the saying ‘in order to love someone else, you have to love yourself first‘. This is true because if we don’t love who we are then we’ll be more susceptible to other people and outside influences defining who we should be.
There is a difference between confidence and low self esteem. Many times we use confidence as a way to camouflage low self esteem. It’s time to look at why we do what we do; we can no longer put everything off on confidence. A woman who truly loves who she is sets her standards extremely high; there’s just some things you won’t do.
When you interact with those who are below your high standards then they begin to pull you down and you end up on their level of low expectation, low worth.
Proverbs 31:10-31 lays out what a woman of high worth, of virtue models herself after. She’s more precious than rubies. A ruby would not objectify herself, have low self esteem, be envious, lack self control, settle, speak negatively, use profanity, be angry, not know her worth.
We have to know we’re worth so much more than what’s portrayed as the ‘It Life’ in mainstream media. It shouldn’t matter what generation you’re a part of, it’s not cute when little girls use women in mainstream media as their role models. Their role model should be their mother, women in their family, because knowing your worth starts at a young age. If they have the wrong influences, then they grow up with the wrong mindsets leading to low self esteem and everything else that effects self love.
Shut off the computer, TV, radio and any other outside noise and sit with yourself for an hour in silence and reflection. Where are you in life? Who or what have you let shape you into who you are today? Are you a ‘ruby’ or a ‘dime’? How does your lifestyle fit that of a ruby? Break it all down so the blinders and bondage can fall off.
inHer GLAM’s trademark is ‘bringing out your inner glam…’ That in itself takes a lot of work because you have to get through all of the mess we’ve been conditioned to believe and feel, before you find the real you. Know your worth, set your standards extremely high and don’t let anything below that standard pull you down.
Find real life rubies to look to for inspiration and take back control of your life; the media should not tell you who you are, it should be the other way around. Then maybe we’ll start to see more rubies and less ‘dimes’ in mainstream.
