BUMBLEBEE IS REFRESHINGLY ALL ABOUT GIRL POWER
Bumblebee is the latest addition to the Transformers franchise and it doesn’t look like this train is slowing any time soon. I have to admit, this was actually a refreshing prequel and I had so many revelations while discussing it.
Hailee Steinfeld delivers as our strong-willed lead who doesn’t fall easily into any of our normal female action movie tropes. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is our fun and adorable sidekick. Side note, does anyone else so love this role reversal? John Cena rounds out our human leads as our government villain.

As for Bumblebee himself, I really loved how they were able to still portray his emotions even though he’s an oversize metal robot. This definitely helped pull me in and keep me connected to Bumblee throughout. I mean, can you really not feel anything when you see those adorable blue eyes?
All in all, this was a fun movie that definitely one that the entire family can see. With all of its subliminal female empowerment messages I just had to give this a B+. What did you think of Bumblebee? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
