SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
As we get closer to the finale Darhk gets that much more evil. We find out what his plans are for Star City and it doesn’t look like there will be any survivors. Check out my recap below!
Darhk pays the members of the organization a visit along with Malcolm and Andy and he kills the ones physically in attendance. He tells the remaining members it’s time to begin the final phase of Genesis. The team finds out about the deaths and they want to take Darhk down while he’s taking revenge but Oliver tells them after talking to Constantine he may have a way to take him down. He leaves for Hub City to see a magic tutor and tells everyone to lay low until he returns.
Diggle visits Lyla and Sara who have taken refuge in a bunker and tells an antsy Lyla that it’s too dangerous for her to be out. She sends him on a diaper run but while out his Andy tracker goes off. He goes to the location and it’s a setup. Andy attempts to take him out but it turns into a chase. Lyla calls him and he tells her to send her men to his location but she tells him he needs to abort. He ignores her and tells her to send her men as quickly as possible. Diggle follow Andy into a building where he tells him he did exactly what he knew he’d do before knocking him out.
Before Oliver leaves Felicity checks in with him to see if everything is fine but he tells her that while he’ll do anything to avenge Laurel he’s seen Darhk’s magic turn people soulless. She tells him that she’s going with him to Hub City and he reluctantly agrees. They end up at a casino and Felicity is excited. The guy they’re waiting for turns out to be a women, Esrin Fortuna, and she leads them to a back room where they find out that she knows Darhk. She tells them that Darhk draws his power from death and fear but if Oliver channels his lightness he can repel him. If his darkness outweighs the light then he will make him more powerful. She takes him through an exercise but he fails proving that the darkness in him is stronger than the light. She tells them that there’s nothing more she can do for him.
Diggle wakes up and Andy tells him that Darhk is on his way and he’s prepping him. Diggle tries to talk to him about his family but he ends up stabbing him in the side. While taking Diggle down he gets free and takes down Andy’s crew. He gets the upper hand over him and handcuffs him to a pole before leaving.
Meanwhile, Thea goes out of town with Alex but is a little unhinged because it’s too quiet. While on a walk she tells him that it sounds like everything is on a loop but Alex convinces her that everything is fine. Back at the house she realizes it’s not getting dark and tells him that the sounds are on a loop. Alex goes to take a “vitamin” when the bottle spills and she asks him where him got the from. He tells her that Ruve gave them to him because she said he needed to stay healthy and she asks him if he drugged her because she can’t remember anything.
Darhk shows up to let Andy free and we find out he put a tracker on Diggle. Diggle is back at the bunker getting cleaned up when the alarm goes off warning them that someone is in close proximity. Andy shoots an explosive at the truck trying to take it down. Diggle tries to call for backup but no one on Team Arrow is answering and Argus is preoccupied. Darhk shows up stopping the truck and Lyla tells Diggle he needs to leave with Sara because Darhk wants her. He leaves on motorcycle while Lyla tries to stop Darhk but he gets on the truck. He goes for Sara but quickly realizes she’s gone with Diggle.
Andy and crew chase after Diggle but Felicity stops him with her van. Diggle hands off Sara to Felicity before chasing after Andy. Diggle catches up to Andy and they fight but Andy starts running his mouth about Lyla and Sara. He warns that Genesis is coming and no one is safe and continues to taunt him before Diggle pulls the trigger killing him. Oliver goes after Darhk stopping him from killing Lyla but Darhk gets him with his magic. Oliver is able to channel his lightness and repel Darhk who escapes. Oliver finds him and Diggle tells him that Andy was never going to back off or stop coming after his family.
Back at the lair Oliver tells Felicity that he was able to repel Darhk by hearing everyone he loves voice telling him to keep fighting. When Lyla comes to she realizes that Darhk stole Rubicon from inside her arm and tells them that he could use it to control the world’s nuclear power. They realize that his plan is to destroy the world but they don’t know what his arc is. Thea is trapped in the arc which looks to be in the middle of nowhere which looks a little bit like space.
Some takeaways…
- I’m pretty sure this was the first episode of the series that didn’t have a flashback of some sort. I could be wrong but I’m confident that’s the case. I mean, unless you count the images Oliver saw when he was being consumed by darkness which I say don’t count.
- I’m glad Diggle killed Andy; he wasn’t even there in the head. The only thing is that he lied to Lyla about how it went down so that’s definitely going to come back to bite him in the ass.
- Speaking of asses, are we really trying to kill babies now? Once you start going for the babies there’s no coming back from that. Of course baby Sara is safe.
- I knew something was up with Alex as soon as Thea found him in the kitchen and he told her she passed out from tiredness. Wherever Thea is it’s giving me The Signal vibes. I really want to know where exactly she is because at the moment it looks like she’s in space. If she is in space how the hell did she get there. Honestly, I don’t think she’s in space because that would create a wave of difficulties.
