SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
Team Arrow gets some much needed tech help to take down a familiar face. It’s all fun and games until you get stung by a bee. Check out the recap below!
Oliver and Taiana confront Reiter but when Taiana tries to kill him the bullets don’t even harm him. Oliver realizes he’s killing people to gain power and tells them to tell him where they hid his idol. Oliver tells him they’ll pass and he uses his powers to throw Taiana across the cave. Oliver tries to fight Reiter by hand but he gets the upper hand. He lifts him up by his neck but he ends up losing power. Oliver is able to punch him out and he goes to check on Taiana but when she comes to they realize Reiter is gone.
Attack of the Bees
We get a pretty awesome four way training sequence with Oliver, Diggle, Thea and Laurel. HIVE has been silent but Thea gets a text from Alex telling her that he’s going for an interview with Ruve Darhk. Laurel suggests getting him an interview for the public relations position that’s open at Palmer Tech. Laurel tries to talk to Oliver about what happened between him and Felicity telling him that that the pain he’s in is going to take a little longer to heal.
Felicity and Curtis are working to mass produce Curtis implantable prototype when they’re interrupted by Donna wanting to get her mind off of the break up. Thea shows up to talk to her about Alex so she decides to stay making her late for her board meeting. Brie Larvan interrupts the meeting not yet in progress killing one of the members with her bees demanding that she get the only implantable bio chip that’s currently implanted in Felicity.
Thea and Donna want to get her out of there but the signal is jammed. Curtis sees the news about the swarming bees from home and rushes to get help. Felicity tells them they need to escape through the air ducts. At the lair, Quentin rushes in and Oliver tells them that he thinks the person behind the bees is Brie. Oliver, Laurel and Diggle are suiting up when Curtis walks in after tracking the lair using the phone he was given to help Ray Palmer. He walks in on them unmasked and after realizing who they really are he passes out.
When Curtis comes to he’s super excited to be in the Arrow’s lair and is distracted by all of the tech. Oliver asks him why he’s there and he tells them that Felicity is at Palmer Tech surrounded by bees. He goes into the computer system and tells them that Brie hacked into the prison computers to escape. He tells them that he can hack into some of the bees to get them a way in. He hacks one of the bees and uses it to guide them to safety. He’s leads them outside where they come face to face with Oliver and crew but Curtis gets kicked out and Brie takes over control again.
The bees form into a body and Oliver ends up getting stung. They take him back to the lair where Curtis tells them that the bee is inside Oliver and is replicating itself. Curtis tells them they need a high frequency to disrupt the bees connection. The use Laurel’s canary call and it destroys the bees inside him.
Brie gives Felicity five minutes to turn herself in before she starts killing off board members. Felicity has an idea after realizing that Brie is in her office and not with the board members. They grab exploding communication devices from Curtis office and escape to the elevator using them to blow a hole into the conference room. She gets the members and her mom on the elevator and sends it down while she and Thea face Brie. While talking to Brie they find out that she has a tumor on her spine but the only way to get it out will leave her paralyzed.
Curtis is a little too happy for Oliver who yells at him for being to jokey. Laurel pulls him aside and tells him he doesn’t need to take his anger out on him but Oliver tells him that he wants him to see it’s not a good life. He also tells her that when he was away he was the happiest he’s ever been but she tells him that Felicity broke up with him because of the lies he told. Felicity tells Brie where the blueprints are and Felicity tells Thea that she’s not coming back to the team.
Curtis tells them he came up with a virus that he can upload that will stop the bees. Meanwhile, Felicity thinks she can stop the bees but Brie is back and ready for revenge because she recognized the code in Palmer Tech’s system which was used by the hacker who sent her to jail. Hello Felicity. Oliver shows up just in time and shoots the bee near Felicity. Curtis tries to upload the virus but it ends up brinkging the bee back to life. He and Quentin run for their lives but Quentin is able to smash it.
Felicity stops the bee man by electrocuting it and Curtis is able to gain control again turning the bees on her. When the team returns to the lair Oliver apologizes for what he said to Curtis and thanks him for his help.
Some takeaways…
- It looks like HIVE has turned their backs on Darhk but Andy might be about to double cross his brother. I’m intrigued to see where this goes seeing as it looks like someone dies next episode and it’s the end of an era. Possible people include Malcolm, Diggle and Quentin. I honestly believe it could be either one of them. I’m really hoping that it’s not Diggle. It can’t be Diggle.
- I really enjoyed seeing Curtis as part of the team. I hope he changes his mind and works with the team again. He brought some great witty lines and his excitement was infectious.
- Good for Felicity for not giving in and sticking to her decision to take a break from the team. Not sure that will last long but kudos all the same.
