Jake’s Little Secret

Olivia meets with Rowan to show him the draft of Mellie’s book. He tries to tell her to be careful with Jake because he’s seeing someone but Liv changes the subject. He tells her she finally has some power and that he’s proud of her. Huck shows up at Liv’s house just as Jake is leaving and he asks her if she found out what Jake and Rowan are up to. She tells him they aren’t up to anything but Huck calls bullshit. He tells her that her father is not finished and she knows where to find him when she snaps back to reality.

Liv asks Jake who he’s seeing and he tells her he’s only seeing one woman and they’ve been dating for a while. He tells her she doesn’t have to worry about anything because they’re safe. Liv has dinner with Rowan and uses that time to asks him if he’s content with where he is. As he starts talking she looks like she’s not buying it and goes through a bunch of flashbacks where Rowan screwed her over.

Liv asks Jake what her father is up to and tells him that her father tried to split them up because if she’s too close she’ll figure it out. He gets a message on his phone and tells her he has to go.

Liv confronts Huck and tells him that maybe she’s not doing anything because that’s how you win. He tells her that she is a guy and she’s been made like the rest of them.

White House Rendezvous/Presidential Setup

Fitz and Lillian are enjoying a lot of persona time together. They’re interrupted by Abby who needs to talk to Fitz because he’s “Wild Carding” and he needs to follow the protocols. She tells him he needs to put in a request for detail but Fitz isn’t having it and tells her to never bring the topic up to him again.

Cyrus meets with Ethan for a briefing on Francisco Vargas but he only has good things to say about him because he couldn’t find any bad stuff. He tells him the only thing bad about him is that no one knows who he is. Cyrus finds out that he was Special Forces in the army and dismisses him. Tom walks in from the shower and Cyrus tells him they’re going to make the next president of the United States.

Elizabeth is still pulling the strings making David woo Susan. Susan calls him and invites him over for dinner. Elizabeth wants to celebrate because Susan’s numbers are high in the polls. Elizabeth thinks that he should have sex with her but he’s against this idea.

Tom blackmails Wayne Turner into going into the state capitol with a loaded gun and holding Governor Vargas hostage. It becomes breaking news and Cyrus has Abby alert the president on what’s going on. She enters his room and finds him in bed with Lillian. She tells him this is why he needs protocols and he tells her she’s out of line. She tells him she’s doing her job but he believes she’s angry because it’s not Liv. She tells him Liv was real, she trusted her and she doesn’t even know who Lillian is. He tells her to stay out of it or he’ll fire her and she tells him about the hostage situation and that he needs to do his job.

Jake arrives and tells Cyrus and Fitz that they have a sniper in place ready to take Wayne down. Cyrus calls Tom and tells him he needs to fix the situation and makes sure Wayne shoots Vargas because this is supposed to be his story. A shot goes off  and the news cuts to footage showing Vargas being shot then taking down Wayne Turner who looks surprised because the shot actually came from Tom.

Abby gets pictures of Lillian entering the White House through a secret door. She takes it to Fitz and tells him that he needs to create a protocols system because she is trying to protect him. He finally relents and agrees to work on a protocol process.

Liv walks into OPA and pulls Huck and Quinn aside to have them look into Vanessa Moss background; the person Jake is seeing. Meanwhile, Vargas goes to the White House for press photos with Fitz and as he leaves the Oval Office he briefly meets Cyrus.

Some takeaways…

  • I actually kind of like that Abby still turns to Liv when she needs to talk to someone and Liv just gets it. They don’t need an entire monologue or anything.
  • Not quite sure how I feel about this Lillian chick. We haven’t really gotten much information on her besides that she”s sleeping with Fitz.
  • I’m still super excited about Cyrus trying to make Vargas president. He’s back on his game and it’s going to make for some very much needed action.
  • I think Rowan and Jake are up to something, I mean, when is Rowan not up to something? Plus they’re living together so they can concoct all types of things.
