Episode Rewind: Scandal Episode 410 ‘Run’

SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)

We’re back… finally! It was definitely a nail biter that’s for sure. See what really happened to Olivia in the recap below!

We start off in some underground facility and a dirty Olivia is running down the hall towards a padlocked red door. We do a short replay of what happened the night she disappeared from her house. We see that while she’s dancing waiting for Jake to return with the blanket a hooded figure comes through the door and snatches her right as Jake is returning to the living room. He runs out of the building after them (or so he thinks) but all he sees is a car driving away.

Jake calls Huck and tells him what happened, that this isn’t Rowan, whoever it is knew what they were doing because they got her out in under 25 seconds. The scene plays again and this time we see that the person didn’t run out of the building with Liv but into the apartment across the hall just before Jake ran out of the door (that’s is kind of clever). In the apartment are a group of masked men watching surveillance cameras so they know when to distract Jake with the car.

Olivia takes off her ring and pushes it under the rug and they watch him call Huck then leave. Sidenote, they just straight murdered the innocent neighbor who’s apartment they used as their stakeout. They escape using an ambulance and tells Olivia that this is her time to negotiate. She tells her that she’s not bargaining with them because they don’t have the power so they inject her with a syringe.

She awakes in a windowless prison with another prisoner named Ian. She finds out that he’s a journalist who was snatched in Egypt and that there was another prisoner but he was released because his ransom was paid. She comes to the conclusion that someone wants her there for some reason. She screams for the bathroom and she asks what’s her ransom but the guy tells her that Ian has been putting ideas in her head.

During eating, she asks Ian how long he’s been there and if he’s been outside the red door. He tells her that he can’t help her because he’s seen things and they’ll kill him. He starts freaking out and screaming and he tells her that he lied about the other prisoner. He tells her that his people paid but they dragged him out and there was screaming and then a gunshot so they’re not going home.

She asks him if he has any family and he tells her about his six year old daughter. She tells him that he’s going to live for his daughter and she’s going to save them. He asks her how and she tells him that she’s Olivia Pope before laughing then she tells him to eat. We find out a little more about Ian while he’s searching her back for a possible tracking device. He doesn’t find anything and loses hope. She tells him that someone will find them and if she’s missing the president won’t stop until she’s found.

We see Liv go to the bathroom multiple times looking at the door and where the keys and weapons are on the guys. While in the bathroom she notices the window and tears the the underwire out of the bra. She uses it to unlatch the window but one of the guards comes in. He tries to grab her but she fights back and the other guard comes in and they throw her back in room. The guy goes to kill her but the other one stops him. He tells her that she’ll pay and they drag out Ian and shoot him. The guard returns with blood on his face and tells her that there’s no way out of there.

Olivia is laying on the ground when she has a dream that consists of her being saved by Jake and then she’s in Vermont with Fitz and he’s a mayor. She has her own jam company and they’re happy until Tom shows up and tells her that he’s protecting him from her. While walking the dog Abby shows up and tells her that she didn’t choose this life and where she left everyone. Abby asks her if she even loves Jake or Fitz then tells her that there is no one to save her and she’s going to have to save herself. She tells her that she dropped something before leaving and then Tom shows up again and tells her that there’s no way out of there.

She’s awaken by the guard delivering food and she takes out the other underwire in her bra then screams for the bathroom. When she gets into the bathroom she sees that the window has been replaced with brick. She breaks down and during this notices the same circular ring from her dream under the sink. She unscrews it detaching the pole and slips it in her sleeve. She wacks the guard in the head and takes the keys and gun and runs for the door. Before she gets there the other guard shows up and taunts her telling her she won’t shoot him. She hesitates but then shoots him in the head then goes through all of the keys to unlock the padlock.

She finally gets the door unlocked and exits to find out that it doesn’t lead to outside but to another room with a screen of outside. Ian (who’s not dead but in charge) appears and tells her that he told her there’s no way out of there. He tells her that he knew she had fight in her and that he needed to get information out of her meaning her telling him that the president would find her no matter what.

Some takeaways…

– I would’ve shot Ian’s ass, that’s freaking horrible. Not quite sure what Ian is looking for, at the moment it looks like he’s after money.

– I don’t really have much to say about this episode since we were pretty much in one location. I wanted to see how OPA is dealing with her missing and in danger but it looks like we’ll get that next week.
