It’s about that time for a personal fitness update from me! I’m not even going to sugarcoat anything… I know my last update talked about me joining the gym. I’m still a member but due to various schedule conflicts I was only able to go to the gym like once these past three weeks. I did start back going regularly this week and starting in November I will be starting a permanent routine so that I will be able to get to my classes.

Just because I’ve been missing the gym, that doesn’t mean I didn’t burn calories. I have been sticking to my goal of walking to and from work once I get off of Bart which means I walk about two miles per day five days a week. Thanks to iOS 8 and my RunKeeper app, I’ve been able to track my walks and calories without even having to do any actually work.

With RunKeeper I realized that they have a feature called Pocket Tracker which automatically saves your walks once you hit the 15 minute mark. With the iOS 8 update it now features a health app which tracks your walks, your elevation and a host of other health related things that I haven’t quite figured out yet. Just to share my numbers according to RunKeeper I walked 53 miles and burned 6,761 calories during September. For October I walked 36.1 miles and burned 1,344 calories. I thinks it’s only been about a month that I’ve had iOS 8 with the Health app and I’m still trying to figure it out. For some reason it won’t show me the monthly average but is shows me every single step it recorded… so yea I think I’ll stick with RunKeeper’s data for now.

Other than that, I’m still plantbased and cooking majority of my meals. I’m not going to lie, I’ve had a lot of Mexican food, there are so many good spots it’s hard to resist. My favorite place right now is Xolo, I get the hongos burrito without cheese… heaven! The hongos tacos and chips and guacamole is pretty awesome too.
