It’s been awhile since I’ve done a review, particularly a hair product review. Don’t worry, this year there will be a ton more beauty reviews. To kick it off, I wanted to start with a review on a product that’s been long overdue.
Dark and Lovely introduced their Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage line with Mango Oil and Bamboo Milk early last year and I picked up one product to try it out but experiences not so great results.
The Coil Moisturizing Souffle claims to have a low crunchless hold, that moisturizes and instantly defines and softens tight curls and coils. I used this product during the summer and it didn’t really do much for me. I didn’t experience any type of a hold, my hair didn’t really feel that moisturized and it didn’t keep my hair from shrinking which is what the line claims to do. The main issue, I believe, that it didn’t work is because it contains glycerin. Products with glycerin usually don’t work that well on my hair. I decided to give it another try since it’s winter and I experience better results.
My hair was noticeably moisturized and soft to the touch. I used it on braidouts and twistouts and I did experience a slight hold, but nothing to drastic or defined. The formula itself is very light and has a light fragrance, so my hair didn’t feel weighed down or have a residue. The product also works well with other products; I didn’t experience any gunk or residue when I combined it with Eco Styler gel or other moisturizing products.
The products in this line retail for around $10. For me personally, it’s a little too much for a product that really only works during the winter. It wouldn’t be my go-to product, but I would definitely snag it again if it were on sale. You can find this product at your local drugstore, Walgreens, CVS, Target or Walmart.
