This month is full of change and recognition. As the season shifts from a spicy hot summer into a cooling calm fall, we recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Many women believe that it is unlikely, and even impossible, to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, that’s not true. Breast cancer can affect just about anyone regardless of age, health, ethnicity, and even gender. Sure, if we exercise daily and consistently consume a healthy meal, our chances of obtaining breast cancer may be lowered, but not eliminated.

According to the Susan G. Komen organization for breast cancer, more than 200,00 women and 2,000 men in America will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Approximately 39,000 of those women and 450 of those men will not survive. It’s a frightening thought, but it is the truth.

Although thinking about breast cancer may be scary, there are several ways to educate yourself about the dangers and prevention of breast cancer. Even if you are not affected by breast cancer yourself, you can still take a stand and make a difference by donating, participating in fundraisers, and/or becoming an advocate.

Many retail stores and brands have teamed up with the breast cancer organization where a percentage of the profit, if not all, goes towards finding a cure to end breast cancer. Check out some breast cancer awareness items below!
